How to Prepare for Your Hope Rising Portrait Session
Welcome! We are so excited to photograph your family.
The Hope Rising Portrait Project was created to celebrate families and preserve moments that deserve to be remembered. Our goal isn't to create perfect photographs—it's to capture the love, joy, and connection that make your family unique.
Here are a few simple tips to help you have a fun, relaxed session.
1. Wear Something That Feels Like You
Choose clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident.
Solid colors or simple patterns usually photograph best, and coordinating colors (rather than matching exactly) creates a timeless look.
Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel like yourself.
2. Keep It Comfortable
Children are happiest when they're comfortable.
Avoid outfits that itch, shoes that hurt, or clothing they'll constantly want to adjust.
If your child has a favorite outfit that makes them smile, that's perfectly okay.
3. Get Plenty of Rest
A good night's sleep can make a big difference—especially for little ones.
Well-rested children tend to be happier, more energetic, and ready to have fun.
4. Have a Small Snack Before You Arrive
Nobody enjoys having their picture taken when they're hungry.
A light snack before your session can help keep everyone's energy up.
(Just try to avoid anything that might stain clothes!)
5. Don't Worry About Posing
You don't need to know how to smile for the camera or what to do with your hands. That's our job.
We'll guide you every step of the way so you can simply enjoy spending time together.
6. Let Kids Be Kids
Some of the best photographs happen when children laugh, play, cuddle, or explore.
They don't have to sit perfectly still.
Real moments create beautiful memories.
7. Arrive a Few Minutes Early
Giving yourself a few extra minutes helps everyone settle in before we begin.
There's no rush—we want your session to feel relaxed from the very beginning.
8. Remember What Matters Most
Years from now, your children won't remember whether their shirt had a wrinkle or their hair was perfectly in place.
They'll remember being together.
These portraits celebrate your family's story exactly as it is today. And that's something worth remembering.
We Can't Wait to Meet You!
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family's story. We'll take care of the photography. You simply bring yourselves—and your smiles.
